TranSwitch's EtherPHAST-48 Plus Enables Flexible Mapping of Ethernet and SAN Signals into SONET/SDH
TranSwitch Corporation has announced its EtherPHAST-48 Plus (TXC-06742). The new device is an excellent fit for next generation multi-service platforms requiring multi-protocol mapping, including compact pizza box terminals, MSPPs, MSAPs, OADMs, and cell-, frame-, or packet-based switches and routers.

-- Transparent Generic Framing Procedure (GFP)
-- Framed GFP in Null and Linear modes
-- Link Access Procedure for SDH (LAPS) mappings for Ethernet and packet data
EtherPHAST-48 Plus offers:
-- A line-side SFI-4 compliant quad LVDS interface
-- SONET/SDH High Order and TUG-3 path termination and processing
-- Non-blocking STS-1/VC-3 cross connect with payload alignment
-- Virtual Concatenation (VCAT) with Link Capacity Adjustment Scheme (LCAS) and inter-tributary de-skew to 64 ms using inexpensive external SDRAM.
The device also supports an extensive range of standard and non-standard contiguous and virtual concatenations. A quad 19/77 MHz Telecom bus enables client port expansion and rapid implementation of multi-service designs. A hardware-abstracting service-oriented API set enables OEMs to rapidly develop their application software.
EtherPHAST-48 Plus (TXC-06742) is priced at $520 each in 1k quantities. Samples are available to select customers now.
