E-Book Version of VoIP Telephony with Asterisk
Signate has announced the publication of an e-book version of VoIP Telephony with Asterisk, its best selling guide to the open source Linux PBX movement that is revolutionizing business telephony. The e-Book uses OSoft's ThoutReader.
"The digital telephony market is moving fast, and Signate came to us looking for a way to offer books to their overseas customers without shipping costs and long transit delays," said Mark Carey, OSoft president. "The ThoutReader version of VoIP Telephony with Asterisk will save those customers money, and give them a better reading experience besides," he said.
The ThoutReader, which is distributed at no charge at www.OSoft.com, is an open source cross-platform publishing system that makes it easy for e-book readers to browse, search, bookmark, and append content in electronic form, and allows publishers to offer rights-managed versions of their books for sale on the OSoft.com web site. Unlike other e-book systems, ThoutReader registration is simple and convenient and does not require the user to log-in or be online every time they wish to use the content. There are no limitations on the number of computers on which a user may view their purchased content.
"Technical book readers want to freely copy their books onto any of their computers," said William Boehlke, CEO of Signate. "The OSoft approach is to tie content to individuals with a single user key that opens any content purchased by that user. This makes the content easy to read on any of a user's computers, but hard to exchange with others. It's good for both readers and publishers," he said.
Signate's VoIP Telephony with Asterisk is the first comprehensive guide for technical readers who want to create telephone systems based on the open source Asterisk PBX -- more than 300 pages packed with information about internet telephony. VoIP Telephony with Asterisk shows readers how to combine open source software with industry-standard high performance hardware to create reliable, highly capable VoIP telephony systems with a total cost of ownership that's typically less than half the cost of a proprietary PBX. The price and performance advantages of VoIP telephony are so overwhelming that industry observer ABI Research has forecast that IP PBX seat shipments (licensed end-user ports on a IP telephone system) will grow from 3.2 million in 2003 to 26 million by 2006.
The e-book version of VoIP Telephony with Asterisk is available immediately at www.OSoft.com for $59.95, a significant savings compared to the print version for customers outside the United States.
