According to Parks Associates, by the end of 2008, PC-based entertainment components, including media PCs and related peripherals, will account for approximately $13 billion in annual sales. Furthermore, the number of U.S. households with a digital video recorder (DVR) set-top box, provided by a service provider, will exceed 25 million by the end of 2006. By the end of 2007, there will be eight million subscribers to on-demand music services, generating over $900 million annually, while the number of broadband games-on-demand households will exceed two million.
