D-Link Introduces the D-Link AirPremier DWL-2210AP
The D-Link AirPremier DWL-2210AP is an intelligent 802.11g access point with embedded clustering and self-managing capability. The new D-Link access point allows simultaneous management of up to eight adaptive access points as a single unified system allowing configuration information and administration policy to be automatically distributed and shared.
With the D-Link AirPremier Access Point, small and medium-sized businesses with limited budgets and minimal I.T. expertise can easily deploy and oversee self-managing wireless LANs with no additional administrative expenses and without sacrificing advanced features such as security, load balancing, virtual LAN's, Quality of Service (QoS), and Wireless Distribution System (WDS). The D-Link DWL-2210AP access point offers true plug-and-play setup and speeds deployment or maintenance by detecting an existing cluster, automatically receiving configuration information, selecting an optimal channel, and serving wireless users within seconds of being out of the box. The clustering capability enables automated self-configuring of new access points joining the network, so it's extremely easy to install, manage or replace an AP in a cluster with a new AP that will be automatically configured. The adaptive intelligence features of the DWL-2210AP also enable self-monitoring and self-healing of the network by enabling wireless users to reconnect to the network through any clustered access point.
In addition to the adaptive self-management features, the D-Link Access Point touts key features such as Power over Ethernet (PoE) for remote placements where power outlets are not within reach. The DWL-2210AP also features robust wireless capabilities such as Wireless Distribution System (WDS), adjustable transmit power, and auto channel selection that enables the access point to select the most optimal spectrum available. Additionally, the D-Link DWL-2210AP contains a robust security feature set such as IEEE 802.1x user-based authentication and WPA support with AES encryption. WPA can be supported with an onboard RADIUS Lite Server that supports up to 100 users and eliminates the need and expense of an external RADIUS platform. The built-in RADIUS Lite function centralizes and simplifies user administration for the entire cluster. The access point is also capable of supporting a powerful wireless guest access functionality along with captive portal welcome screens through the use of multiple Basic Service Set ID's and standards based IEEE 802.1Q based Virtual LAN support. The out-of-the-box guest access functionality allows you to provide isolated wireless connectivity to visiting vendors and customers without compromising the security and integrity of your internal network.
Small to Medium businesses will also benefit from the advanced performance features of the D-Link DWL-2210AP such as load balancing and Quality of Service (QoS) that can enable time sensitive and mission critical applications such as Voice Over IP (VoIP) or streaming media to optimally perform over the wireless network. Priority queuing allows the access point to prioritize the transmission of packets based on the type of service that the packet is carrying.
