StreamShield Networks Selects SurfControl Web Content Filtering Database

SurfControl's extensive Web content filtering database is being incorporated into StreamShield's internet-based content security solutions.





StreamShield enables ISPs and network operators to offer their residential and business customers "clean internet services" in which threats and dangers are removed in the internet before the content is safely delivered to their subscribers. This is achieved through a new silicon-based content security technology called StreamScan which can block multiple threats in real-time at multi-gigabit speeds.

Combined with SurfControl's Web content filtering database, StreamScan can filter 250,000 web page requests per second based on each subscriber's individual preferences. As a result, access to websites that fall outside of a business customer's Acceptable Usage Policy or, in the case of residential customers, websites that are deemed inappropriate to children can be blocked in the internet before they cause harm.
