Rock the Vote Mobile Impacts Hundreds of Thousands of Young American Voters

Powerful Wireless Platform Engages Youth in Recent Presidential Election

More than 120,000 young Americans joined Rock the Vote and Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) this year to participate in the wireless Rock the Vote Mobile (RTVMO) campaign. 2004 marked the launch of this innovative initiative, which was designed to educate, inform and engage youth voters in the presidential election – all via Motorola’s mobile phone applications.

Programs like RTVMO found success this year in reaching and capturing the attention of young voters, an influential demographic, as nearly 21 million voters ages 18 to 30 cast ballots on Election Day – close to 5 million more than in 2000 – representing the largest voter turnout since 1972 among American youth.

Created to get young Americans involved in the election process by receiving campaign updates to their mobile phones and voicing opinions in wireless polls, RTVMO established itself as an effective and easy-to-use tool. In its inaugural year the program’s microsite received 428,137 hits throughout the campaign, more than 2,800 site visitors downloaded the “Find Your Candidate” program, which was created to help users identify the candidate that best represented their own political views, and more than 4,500 RTVMO participants sought voter registration materials via their mobile phones.

RTVMO participants were able to sign up for the wireless updates by visiting the RTVMO microsite, www.rtvmo.com. The site offered a variety of helpful programs designed to generally increase election knowledge and included links to polling place locators, regional election activity and even a Bush vs. Kerry boxing game. Additionally, many notable Hollywood celebrities, including Amber Tamblyn, Jake Gyllenhaal and Christina, joined forces with RTVMO to help engage young voters in the election.
