ip.access to supply nanoGSM technology to SMART Communications

ip.access has reached an agreement with Philippinean SMART to supply its nanoGSM technology for new services aimed at SMART's corporate customers.

SMART, which has some 16.1 million users on its GSM network (as of June 30, 2004), will integrate the ip.access equipment within its existing infrastructure, making use of the cost savings associated with connecting the basestations into the core infrastructure over IP networks.

The ip.access' nanoBTS is a GSM pico-basestation able to deliver cellular voice and data services in the smallest and most cost-effective package available today. Through the innovation of using IP as the backhaul medium, the nanoBTS provides coverage and capacity simply and efficiently. The nanoBTS is part of the ip.access nanoGSM solution, which allows network operators to boost mobile phone coverage in traditionally hard-to-reach areas, enabling new applications such as Wireless Office.
