Fujifilm's Digital Camera Myth Buster

For those new to the world of digital photography, understanding megapixels, image quality and the difference between optical and digital zooms can be a daunting prospect. Fujifilm has developed a useful online guide containing helpful tips for those new to the technology, with the aim of helping to dispel some of the myths that currently surround digital cameras.

Available to view online at http://www.fujifilm.co.uk/digital/cameras/ten_things.php, the handy guide is packed full of information and advice about digital photography, and what customers need to know when buying a camera.

The guide also dispels the often confusing myth that 'more pixels mean better image quality', rather than the size of print that can be achieved. In addition, a handy pixel calculator allows users to find the most appropriate camera for the size of prints required.

On another frequently misunderstood subject, the Fujifilm guide explains the difference between optical and digital zooms, with optical zoom being promoted clearly as the more useful of the two.

An image quality handbook in PDF format, examining digital images in greater detail and explaining what is required to produce the perfect digital picture quality, is also available to download as a at the end of the 'ten things' section.

Will Rolls, Fujifilm's Marketing Manager for Digital Products, said, "It's painfully predictable that the first thing anyone asks about a digital camera is how many pixels it has. Once we started looking at the myth that 'pixels equal image quality', we suddenly realised just how many other misunderstandings there were. Hopefully, this guide will help customers to make an informed decision, regardless of which brand they buy."
