Maximising Capacity in GSM, GPRS, EDGE and WCDMA Networks

Julian Lake from PA Consulting Group - the leading international management, systems and technology consultancy - will guide mobile operators through the complexity of today's technology options in his keynote presentation at IIR's conference, Maximising Capacity in GSM, GPRS, EDGE and WCDMA networks, at 09:40 on 6 December 2004 in Lisbon.

Julian, who heads the Wireless Networks group in PA's Wireless Technology Practice, will provide insight on available and breaking technologies that cellular operators can use to maximise network capacity for customer applications.

The paper will examine the extent to which capacity needs are currently being met in GSM/GPRS networks and will assess the potential impact of EDGE deployment on capacity. It will go on to investigate the capacity available in WCDMA networks and the approaches that can be applied as data traffic increases, and will conclude with a discussion of the possible role for 'disruptive' broadband wireless technologies in mobile networks.

It will be of particular value to engineers and managers involved in mobile network strategy, design and planning.

In presenting the paper, Julian will draw from 18 years' experience delivering wireless projects for suppliers, operators, users, regulators and investors covering GSM, UMTS, PMR, digital TV, satellite and fixed wireless access networks.

PA Consulting Group's wireless technology expertise includes network and system design and evaluation, radio network dimensioning and planning, cost modelling, technology comparisons, product benchmarking and due diligence, as well as service and product development for wireless operators and equipment suppliers.
