Vodafone Marks 3G Mobile Milestone
The first call on Vodafone's 3G network marks another historic milestone for New Zealand mobile users. This will also be the first video telephony call made on a New Zealand mobile network.
Associate Communications Minister David Cunliffe and athlete Hamish Carter will be chatting via a video telephony call on the Vodafone 3G network. (This will take place at 2.30pm, Monday 27th September at Nokia House, Mahuhu Cres, Parnell.)
Video streaming, video downloads and expanded Vodafone live! content are further examples of new services and products. The 3G Mobile Connect Card is already available for customers now and it works effectively in both a 3G and 2.5G environment.
Video telephony (video calling) will provide another means of communication for Vodafone business and consumer customers. Video calling is a mobile voice call, which includes video capability. The two callers have the choice of seeing each other, the surrounding area or both as they talk.
Video calling is ideally used when there is a strong visual element or the need for a greater personal connection between the callers. Examples include showing a customer how a product works, getting a second opinion on the handling of a new car, getting advice on how to repair something, interviewing job applicants or saying goodnight to the kids when you are out of town.
