Memorex introduces new Double Layer DVD+R Discs Blank media

Memorex, a leading brand in digital media and media accessories, delivers the highest capacity DVD media available with the arrival of its new double layer DVD+R discs. The new Memorex discs allow for 80 percent more recording capacity than current single layer discs.

Longer continuous recording makes Memorex double layer DVDs ideal for recording movies, music and sporting events. The discs offer DVD-quality picture resolution with four hours of recording time – about two hours more than a single layer DVD – accommodating most standard length movies all on one disc. In addition to entertainment fans, computer users will also find high-capacity double layer DVDs to be an ideal back-up and storage medium for their data files.

Double layer DVD technology has been highly anticipated by the consumer. Memorex has delayed introducing the product into the portfolio in order to provide additional evaluation time to overcome initial user difficulties identified in early tests. Memorex is confident that the product it is now shipping offers the consumer the reassurance that the product is fully tested and offers the highest compatibility with home consumer electronic devices and computing equipment.

Double layer DVD+R discs allows consumers to record four hours of DVD-quality video in standard play mode (SP) or 16 hours of VHS-quality video in extended play mode (EP). The discs record at 2.4x speed, require a double layer burner for recording, and conform to the DVD9 commercial standard.

Availability and Pricing
Memorex Double Layer DVD+R discs will be available in December. The discs will be available in singles or packs of 5 in jewel cases. Pricing and images are available on request.
