Joint HSDPA RF Solution
UbiNetics and Renesas Technology Corp. have signed an agreement for the development of the first RF solution capable of supporting WCDMA and HSDPA in the frequency bands used in Japan, Europe and the USA.
The new RF solution, jointly developed by UbiNetics and Renesas Technology, will be a complete, dual-mode RF sub-system comprising RFIC, power amplifier, SAW duplexer and DC/DC converter.
It will support WCDMA and HSDPA operation in the 800 MHz, 1900 MHz and 2100 MHz bands used in Europe, the US and Japan and is designed to be used with Renesas’ quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE solutions for dual-mode applications.
The announcement marks the second time UbiNetics and Renesas Technology have partnered for joint RF solution development, emphasising both companies’ confidence that their partnership results in world-beating solutions. Under the terms of the first agreement, signed in September 2002, UbiNetics and Hitachi, Ltd.[1] <#_ftn1> jointly designed a WCDMA RFIC.
