The Wall Street Journal Online Launches Video Center

Sun is the first to sponsor WSJ.com's new multimedia offering, powered by thePlatform media publishing system

The Wall Street Journal Online at WSJ.com, the largest paid subscription news site on the Web, and thePlatform(TM) today announced that the Online Journal recently launched "The Wall Street Journal Video Center," powered by thePlatform media publishing system(TM).

The Online Journal also announced that Sun(R) Microsystems, a leading provider of industrial-strength hardware, software and services that make the Net work, has agreed to be a sponsor of the new Video Center.

Although the Online Journal has been offering video on the site, the new center provides its readers with a central location where they can find and view a selection of video. The content of the Video Center--which includes a significantly upgraded collection and presentation of video--contains breaking news and information from leading partners such as CNBC, and insightful analysis from Wall Street Journal reporters. The video clips help add context to several of the day's top news stories, and content is broken into two categories: "Interviews and Breaking News" and "From the Journal Newsroom."

The center also is supported by a new video-advertising program. thePlatform's customizable software solution and dynamic playlist engine enable the Online Journal to offer advertisers, such as Sun, the ability to run video advertising in a video environment. Because the Online Journal created a new destination for all of its video content--which is linked from prominent positions such as the homepage, as well as from relevant articles--advertisers can deploy their message by placing video and display advertising accordingly.

The Wall Street Journal Video Center is available at http://online.wsj.com/public/page/0,,8_0000,00.html.

thePlatform media publishing system 4.1 is available now at http://www.theplatform.com.
