AV-Note: The latest in converged entertainment in a mobile platform Using Microsoft's Windows XP Media Center Edition (MCE) 2005 operating system, the two models in the Qosmio range are the only such devices to be available as a notebook computer. This enables users to easily transport Qosmio into any living space - inside or outside the home.
Qosmio also features QosmioPlayer a quick-start player allowing users to instantly play DVDs and CDs using standard AV buttons, without having to boot the computer. In addition, users can browse channels or videos through Windows XP MCE using a single remote control.
Toshiba has installed an integrated TV tuner and high quality video encoder, dubbed QosmioEngine, to ensure users can watch, pause and time slip view live television with the most high definition and crisp imagery available. Qosmio comes in two screen sizes — a 17" and 15.4" XGA widescreen. Quality of resolution is further augmented with the use of high-brightness CSV display panels, two lamp screens and anti-glare technology - ensuring viewers have the same experience whether indoors or in the sun.
The inclusion of the latest wi-fi 802.11b/g and Bluetooth standard in Qosmio allows users to replicate their entertainment experience to any other compatible wireless PC elsewhere in the home or office. So in addition to being able to transport the unit to any convenient space, users may stream content from a central Qosmio hub to another device via a standard wireless network.
Qosmio also brings to consumers the latest in multimedia capability and quality. The inclusion of DVD SuperMulti (double layer) multiple format drives allows DVDs and CDs to be copied and viewed anywhere. Toshiba has also uniquely included 30 millimetre Harmon/Kardon speakers with SRS TruSurround XT Sound for the best in audio sound quality — for recreational use or when delivering presentations.
In addition to those looking for a mobile presentation device, frequent corporate travellers, gamers and designers will also benefit from the latest computing technology included in Qosmio, including: an 80 or 160 gigabyte (GB) hard drive, and the advanced Intel Pentium M Processor 755 with enhanced Intel Speedstep technology.
The inclusion of Microsoft Windows XP MCE provides Qosmio users with a central and intuitive interface through which to store and navigate all digital files. Users can easily manage personal AV libraries, music collections and photos, navigate TV and DVDs, use any of their normal computer applications, as well as change settings such as display brightness through a single remote control.
