Dell has introduced its first ATG D620 semi-rugged notebook computer. Although, clearly not the Hammer of the laptop world, the device is good for hostile work environments where dust, vibration and moisture pose clear and present danger to an ordinary PC.

Dell says that Latitude ATG D620 is built and tested to meet MIL-STD-810F military standard of durability. That means the PC sports a shock-mounted, removable 1.8" 80GB 4200RPM hard drive, a shock-mounted super-bright 500-nit LCD screen, a dust and spill-resistant keyboard with additional backlighting, port covers and more.

Inside the notebook there is Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, up to 4GB of DDR2 shared memory running on 667MHz, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 with up to 224MB shared memory, and a pair of batteries.

Connectivity is provided via 56K v924 Internal Modem, 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet, Dell Wireless 5700 Mobile Broadband CDMA EVDO, Intel® 3945 WiFi 802.11a/g, Dell Wireless 1390 802.11g and Dell Wireless 1490 802.11a/g Dual-Band Mini-Cards.

It starts at $2,499 and is available now.
