Before You Install Windows Vista

Before You Install Windows Vista
Want to taste a little of the recent Windows Vista public beta? TechWeb gives you some advice to make sure you don't just waster your time and bandwidth downloading a large chunk of software you can't even install.

Before You Install Windows Vista
So, there are, basically, five things you should know before installing Windows Vista.

First, prepare your DVD burner, because you won't be able to install Vista from the HDD. Second, Vista is not only beta, it's a limited trial. The system will seize functioning June 1 2007 and it's not yet clear whether you will be able to save your precious porno movies when it goes tits-up.

Third, when you install Vista, there will be no turning back, so make sure you back up your documents. Fourth, even in case you'll love the software, there is no way to install the final version on top of the beta -- you'll have to completely wipe it off and perform a clean install. So, again, back up.

And finally, Windows Vista is still beta. Knowing Microsoft's reputation, even the final release will be, um, a little bit unreliable until the first SP has been released, so if you really want to install it on your PC, think twice. It could a mess.
