The new Everex StepNote NC1500 notebook is claimed to be the less power hungry notebook in the world. The secret is that the laptop runs on VIA's C7-M CPU, clocked at 1.5GHz and consuming no more than 12W of peak power.

The Everex StepNote NC1500 notebook features a decent 1280x800 wide-screen 15.4-inch LCD display with DiamondBrite technology and comes with 512MB DDR2 SDRAM memory and pretty standard 60GB 4200 rpm PATA HDD with pre-installed Windows XP Home Edition.

That's not all, of course. For just $498, one will get a notebook PC with wireless LAN 802.11b/g, a DVD+/-RW writer with dual-layer support, 2 Button Glide Pad, rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery and an AC '97 audio system with built-in speaker. Not that bad for such a miserable amount of money asked.
