Asustek to make 3G phones for Siemens?

Various anonymous sources in Taipei suggest that Taiwanese computer maker Asustek is likely to produce 3G handsets for Siemens mobile.

According to DigiTimes.com, which сites Chinese-language Commercial Times, Taiwanese-based Asustek Computer got a contract to produce WCDMA handsets for Siemens Mobile with shipments to start at 500,000 units beginning in the third quarter of next year. The same source argues that German company placed an order with Asustek to make some 2.5G mobile phones.

Asustek declined to comment on the report, citing client confidentiality.
