Sony Ericsson Debuts New T290a Phone

The new Sony Ericsson T290a device, which sports SMS text messaging and includes more features than many entry level handsets, is a dual-band 850/1900 GSM mobile phone that will launch in North America during Q1 2005.





With features not found in most other entry-level handsets, the new Sony Ericsson T290a has a vibrant color screen, games, speakerphone functionality for conference calls, a joystick for simple navigation and fast SMS text messaging with predictive text input on an ergonomically designed keypad. The T290a also offers high-quality ring tones and an additional speaker to hear the phone ringing even in noisy environments. The handset will be offered in two colors frosty white and misty black.

In addition to the T290a for the Americas, Sony Ericsson also announced these additional entry level products for its global portfolio:

T290i, Dual-band 900/1800
T290c Dual-band 900/1800 for mainland China
J200i Triple-band 900/1800/1900
J200c Triple-band 900/1800/1900 for China
