Cyclades Makes Open Source SDK for IPMI Available on OpenIPMI Web Site
Cyclades Corporation announced the availability of its Open Source IPMI development kit for the creation of proxies, gateways and managers for IPMI-enabled devices.
IPMI is the emerging standard for server management being driven by Intel, Dell and HP. IPMI uses a separate processor embedded in the server to enable IT managers to access, monitor and reboot servers that are unavailable due to application, hardware or operating system errors. It has been adopted by over 150 server manufacturers including IBM and Sun Microsystems. In November 2004, Cyclades introduced the first secure, enterprise manager for IPMI-enabled devices.
As a further demonstration of its commitment to open source, Cyclades recently joined Open Source Development Labs (OSDL) and will participate in the Labs' Desktop Linux and Data Center Linux working groups.
