Sensustech Aims To Revolutionize Mobile Quality

A new company called Sensustech Ltd, based in Bristol, UK, has been formed. Its stated aim is to revolutionize the methods of determining true quality of mobile communication around the world

According to its CEO, Dr Malek Ladki, quality is set to become the key issue for mobile operators over the next few years:

"Quality is set to become the new battleground for mobile phone operators. Most people, in Western Europe at least, now have a phone and operators will have to compete for existing phone users. Recent research shows that at least a third of users are unhappy with the quality available and at least 10% intend to churn. I suspect that the number would be a lot bigger if the customers believed that a genuinely better alternative was available."

Sensustech aims to provide operators with statistically significant measurements of quality at the point of delivery.

Says Dr Ladki: "The user is only interested in whether he can make a call, avoid being dropped and both hear and be heard accurately. That is the true measure of network quality…and precisely what our service will be measuring."

Sensustech expects to launch its first service in February 2005.
