Leadtek Announces New Videophones & Cameras

Leadtek Research Inc., announced three new cutting-edge videophone and camera products, the Leadtek videophone BVP8882, Leadtek set-top box videophone BVP8759 and Leadtek network surveillance camera NSC3610. These innovative products have already been honored with three separate prestigious CES 2005 Innovations Design and Engineering Awards, to be announced at the 2005 International CES held January 6-9, 2005 in Las Vegas.

Leadtek BVP8882 – Videophone Features for Everyone and Every Occasion
A winner in the CES Telephone Award category, the BVP8882 is a stylish standalone videophone that makes phone calls without a computer. The vibrant 5” LCD screen and CCD camera are mounted on a platform which can be rotated and tilted and provide clear viewing even in a dimly lit environment. The BVP8882 is perfect for videoconferencing, distance learning, visual consultancy, personal identification, video surveillance, and sign language communication. The phone operates in either the H.323 or SIP communication protocol and connects to a broadband network via a router, ADSL modem, or cable modem. The videophone is priced at $599 SRP.

One of the most unique features of the BVP8882 videophone is its built-in USB port. With USB, peripherals such as a Wi-Fi dongle (for wireless connectivity), memory storage device (for saving or retrieving video and audio), broadband modem, and keyboard (for entering text messages) are all supported. The videophone’s buttons are familiar to all -- the same as a cellphone’s, including the “Send” and “Cancel” buttons. For hands-free operation, the phone has a built-in microphone and speakerphone. Video and audio can also be recorded to external devices, such as a VCR, through built-in video and audio connectors. Leadtek will also announce at a press reception at CES that it is supplying France Telecom with BVP8882 videophones for their nationwide video telephony service.

Leadtek BVP8759 – Set-Top Box Videophone for Affordable Group Conferencing
Also a winner in the CES Telephone Award category, the Leadtek BVP8759 videophone set-top box uses the TV as a videophone display. A corded or cordless microphone connects the user’s voice to the unit. The set-top box can be placed on top of a TV, desk, or on a wall. All other features and specs are the same as the standard Leadtek videophone. The BVP8759 set-top box videophone is priced at $499 SRP.

Leadtek NSC3610 – Compact Surveillance Camera
The network surveillance camera NSC3610, a winner in the CES Integrated Home Systems Award category, is a unique, ergonomic and compact network-based surveillance camera equipped with MPEG-4 video and G.711 audio compression technologies. The camera is easy to use with a web-based user interface and intuitive software. Consumers can view live surveillance video from multiple cameras at the same time. The camera utilizes Digital Video Recording (DVR) technology to record video and audio with time stamps, which can be saved into a computer’s hard drive. The MPEG-4 compression technology minimizes the size of the recorded data, yet offers high quality video playback. Motion detection can be programmed to send an alarm when any object moves in a defined area. Digital zoom can be used to enlarge a portion of the display for detailed investigation. The Leadtek NSC3610 surveillance camera also supports Wi-Fi connectivity. Affordably-priced at $200 SRP, the camera is ideal for consumer remote surveillance and monitoring applications.
